Metal Thread Locking Adhesive
◆ Glue 222 is a low-strength anaerobic threadlocker that allows the adjustment of screws including countersunk head screws and set screws. Good on low-strength metals which could fracture during disassembly, e.g. aluminum or brass. The product works on all metals, including passive substrates such as stainless steel, aluminum and plated surfaces. It is proven to be tolerant of minor contamination due to industrial oils, e.g. motor oils, corrosion prevention oils and cutting fluids.
◆ Glue 242 is a medium strength, medium viscosity, methacrylate-based threadlocking adhesive offering general purpose qualities. The product provides quick fixture times on steel, brass and stainless steel of 5, 15 and 20 min respectively. It is thixotropic to prevent migration after application and is intended for fasteners that require normal disassembly with standard hand tools.
◆ Glue 243 is a medium strength blue threadlocking adhesive that seals and secures metal nuts and bolts to prevent loosening due to shock and vibration.
◆ Glue 271 is a red, low viscosity, methacrylate-based threadlocking adhesive with high strength. With steel fixture time of 10min, brass 5min and stainless steel 15 min.
◆ Glue 272 is a red, high strength, medium viscosity, methacrylate-based threadlocking adhesive with high temperature resistance.
◆ Glue 277 is a red, high strength, high viscosity, methacrylate-based threadlocking adhesive. It has a fixture time on steel of 30 min, brass 25 min and stainless steel 270 min making it deal for applications where migration of the adhesive must be prevented.
◆ Glue 290 is a low viscosity and capillary action, the product wicks between engaged threads and eliminates the need for disassembly prior to application. The product cures when confined in the absence of air between close-fitting metal surfaces and prevents loosening and leakage due to shock and vibration. The product can also fill porosities in welds, castings and powdered metal parts.

How To choose it
When choosing a thread locking compound, there are four things to consider:
1. Strength
▶ Low Strength (Purple): Ideal for fasteners <1⁄4" (6 mm). Easy disassembly using hand tools, like 222.
▶ Medium Strength (Blue): Designed to be removable with standard hand tools on 1⁄4" to 3⁄4" fasteners, like 242 243 262 263.
▶ High Strength (Red): Designed to deliver high strength on 1⁄4" to 3⁄4" (6 mm to 22 mm) fasteners. For removal, it may require
localized heat (>550°F/260°C), hand tools, and disassembly while hot, like 271 272 290.
2. Viscosity
▶ Liquid Formulas: Everyday assembly; ideal for fine threads and blind holes
▶ Semisolid Formulas: Pocket-friendly, ideal for overhead applications
▶ Tape Formula: Pocket-friendly; controlled application; can be pre-applied several days before assembly
3. Application Methods
▶ Pre-Applied: QuickTape threadlocker can be applied beforehand on bolts that are waiting to be assembled
▶ Pre-Assembly: Most HiGlue liquid threadlockers are designed to be applied at the moment that parts will be assembled
▶ Post-Assembly: Wicking grade formula can be applied on parts that are already assembled
4. Materials Being Assembled
425 Assure: Plastic-to-plastic, plastic-to-metal applications
